A session on "Accurate Liquid Handling using Pipettes" was conducted on 20th October 2022 for II year M.Sc students and PhD Scholars at Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research. The session was facilitated by Mr. Bharath Kumar N, Sr. Territory Manager and Mr. Anand Sreedhara Murthy, Asst Territory Manager - Service both from Eppendorf India. The facilitators engaged the students by explaining and demonstrating the accurate use of a pipette and the various cautions to be taken while handling liquids using a pipette.

Best Oral Presentation Award

Mr Vankadari Aditya, Research Scholar at Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research has won the Best Oral Presentation Award at the International Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance and Microbiome under Changing Climate (AMRMIC-2022). He presented his data on Resistance to fosfomycin as an indicator of extensive drug resistance in Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Klebsiella pneumonia. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies under the guidance of Dr. Deekshit, Assoc. Professor at NUCSER in the Division of Infectious Diseases. His research mainly focuses on identifying traits of multidrug resistant of E.coli in simulated gut condition.

Dr. Caroline's art was selected under the theme 'Narrative medicine'. The selection was based on the thematic relevance, overall quality, evocativeness and uniqueness of the art.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5th June 2022, NUCSER organised an educational excursion to Bhagavathi Nature Camp, Kudremukh National Park. The tour was conducted in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department, KNP division.

220 students and 10 faculty members participated in a jungle trail walk organised by the forest department followed by a formal function at the seminar hall of the nature camp. NUCSER, in association with NSS, Nitte DU celebrated the 26th countdown day of 8th International Day of Yoga 2022 on 26th May 2022 at the University Auditorium, Paneer campus. The theme of International Day of Yoga (IDY2022) is to spread the message of yoga to the younger generation and bring new energy and enthusiasm to our lives. Prithvisagar KS, a PhD scholar working under the guidance of Dr Krishna Kumar B, Division of Infectious Diseases, has been awarded a short-term PhD placement fund to carry out a part of his doctoral research at the University of Plymouth, UK. He is one of the twenty-one awardees across the country.

Celebration of International Women's day with underprivileged children

NUCSER, celebrated International Women's Day on 6th March 2021, by visiting Bala Samrakshana Kendra, Mangala Seva Samithi Trust, an orphanage in Kuthar, Mangalore. The Director, teaching staff, members of the Women's Cell, Student Council representatives and student members of the Gender Sensitisation Cell took part in the program. The events included interactive sessions where children presented various skills like singing, dancing, poetry and also, a few fun-filled activities. The members distributed stationery items and snacks to the children and spent some quality time with the children in the orphanage. A beach clean-up session

As a part of the Swachh Bharath Mission, Adhyetha, the Alumni Association of NUCSER, organized a beach clean-up session on Sunday, 28th Feb 2021 at Someshwar Beach, Mangaluru. A team of 30 volunteers including faculty members joined hands in cleaning up a stretch of the most popular area of the beach. The team collected all kinds of trash from the beach and the parking areas, and plastic items contributed the most.

NUCSER Students Visit Animal Care Centre

As a part of the co-curricular activities, the NSS Cell of NUCSER organized a visit of students to the Animal Care Centre, located in Shaktinagar in the outskirts of Mangaluru on 16th Feb 2021. The shelter is run under the aegis of an NGO, The Animal Care Trust, which has been working towards providing care and shelter to sick, stray, abandoned and injured animals over the last two decades. The shelter works like a hospital and is equipped with all basic needs including an operation facility.

Effective Blended Learning Resources

The program included a series of interactions with the faculty aimed at introducing the concept of blended learning and familiarizing the faculty about the available tools on the NUelearn, the in-house learning management system of the University. A first of its kind event in the University, NUCSER conducted "Aikya"- a unique program that combined the celebration of various regional and religious festivals such as Deepavali, Karnataka Rajyotsava and Christmas on the last day of the current semester, the 30th November 2019, at the University Auditorium, Paneer campus. Unlike previous years, the teams for the game events were given different names and different colours of jerseys this year and comprised of students from different classes and faculty members.
