NUCSER faculty wins Big at Nitte DU Research Awards 2019

Nitte (Deemed to be University) recognizes the achievements of the faculty in the field of research & innovation and felicitates star performers every year with citations & cash prizes.

The Research Awards 2019 was held on 31st March 2021 at Chinthana Hall, Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital. Dr. Deekshit, Asst. Professor, NUCSER, won the Best Researcher Award of Nitte DU for the year 2019. He also won the Best Researcher of NUCSER Award for the year 2019.

Development Program on 'Pedagogy of Teaching & Learning'

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER), in association with the Staff Development Centre (SDC), Nitte DU conducted a Staff Development Program on 22nd March 2021 for the teaching faculty of the institute. A seminar on 'Women Health and Hygiene'

Though women's rights are often spoken of, in a literate society, women's health is still hushed up and people are hesitant to talk of it. Keeping this in mind, a program on 'Women Health and Hygiene' was organized by the Women's Cell of NUCSER on 25th February 2021.

Celebration of International Women's day with underprivileged children

NUCSER, celebrated International Women's Day on 6th March 2021, by visiting Bala Samrakshana Kendra, Mangala Seva Samithi Trust, an orphanage in Kuthar, Mangalore. The Director, teaching staff, members of the Women's Cell, Student Council representatives and student members of the Gender Sensitisation Cell took part in the program. The events included interactive sessions where children presented various skills like singing, dancing, poetry and also, a few fun-filled activities. The members distributed stationery items and snacks to the children and spent some quality time with the children in the orphanage. Effective Blended Learning Resources

Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER), in association with the Staff Development Cell (SDC), Nitte DU conducted a training program on designing 'Effective Blended Learning Resources' for the teaching faculty of the institute.

The program included a series of interactions with the faculty aimed at introducing the concept of blended learning and familiarizing the faculty about the available tools on the NUelearn, the in-house learning management system of the University. A beach clean-up session

As a part of the Swachh Bharath Mission, Adhyetha, the Alumni Association of NUCSER, organized a beach clean-up session on Sunday, 28th Feb 2021 at Someshwar Beach, Mangaluru. A team of 30 volunteers including faculty members joined hands in cleaning up a stretch of the most popular area of the beach. The team collected all kinds of trash from the beach and the parking areas, and plastic items contributed the most.

Awareness program on Environment and Animal rights

Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character. In view of increase in cruelty to animals in the present times, it was felt that there was a need for a sensitization and awareness program for the students, aimed at protection of the animal species.

NUCSER Students Visit Animal Care Centre

As a part of the co-curricular activities, the NSS Cell of NUCSER organized a visit of students to the Animal Care Centre, located in Shaktinagar in the outskirts of Mangaluru on 16th Feb 2021. The shelter is run under the aegis of an NGO, The Animal Care Trust, which has been working towards providing care and shelter to sick, stray, abandoned and injured animals over the last two decades. The shelter works like a hospital and is equipped with all basic needs including an operation facility.

The birth anniversary of Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is celebrated on 31st October every year as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Divas.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) Advisory Committee of NUCSER conducted a National Unity Day Pledge on 31st October 2020.

NUCSER conducted the annual day of "Team Games" on 22nd November 2019 at the campus grounds at Paneer. Unlike previous years, the teams for the game events were given different names and different colours of jerseys this year and comprised of students from different classes and faculty members. The teams were Bandits, Game of Thrones, KGF, Silver Slayers, Pirates of NUCSER and NUCSER Avengers. Four different games namely football, cricket, volleyball and throwball were conducted.

A first of its kind event in the University, NUCSER conducted "Aikya"- a unique program that combined the celebration of various regional and religious festivals such as Deepavali, Karnataka Rajyotsava and Christmas on the last day of the current semester, the 30th November 2019, at the University Auditorium, Paneer campus. In a first of its kind initiative at the University and keeping in tune with the "new normal", NUCSER bid adieu to the graduating UG and PG students through a live virtual farewell program on 20th June 2020.
