Following the new National Education Policy 2020 guidelines the institute adopted and introduced the 4 years B.Sc. (Hons) Biomedical Science program
The Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER) was established in K. S. Hegde Medical Academy with the aim of imparting quality education and to carry out cutting edge research in the field of human health and disease in the form of a three year UG program (B.Sc. Biomedical Science) and two years PG program (M.Sc. Biomedical Science)
The institute moved to an independent building of more than 30,000 square feet in the quiet and serene environment at the Paneer Campus equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and research facilities.
The centre introduced two more Masters programs namely M.Sc. Food Safety and Biotechnology and M.Sc. Marine Microbiology and Biotechnology in addition to the flagship programs of B.Sc. and M.Sc. Biomedical Science. The institute established specialized research facilities such as Zebrafish and Drosophila Model Systems for advanced research in cancer biology, developmental biology and toxicology
Following the guidelines of UGC, the centre adopted and introduced the Choice Based Credit System for the UG program and rechristened the program as B.Sc. (Hons) Biomedical Science
The institute adopted and implemented the choice based credit system for MSc Biomedical Science and MSc Food Safety and Biotechnology. The institute also introduced one year research work for PG dissertation.
The institute introduced two more Masters programs namely M.Sc. Biotechnology and M.Sc. Microbiology with choice-based credit system and one year PG dissertation research.
