M.Sc. (FOOD SAFETY & BIOTECHNOLOGY)

In Food Safety & Biotechnology, the focus is on food safety and public health. It utilizes a highly integrated approach to gain an understanding of how microorganisms, toxins and other chemicals associated with food can affect human health (food microbiology, food chemistry and additives),and the role of biotechnology in today’s world and how effectively and efficiently adulterated or contaminated food can be identified (food standards and quality control, application of biotechnology in food science, rapid and automated techniques in food science). This course has been designed for students seeking a career in food processing industries, food safety accreditation labs and regulatory agencies. The course provides a provision for a full- time research project in the final semester.

A Candidate with three years of Bachelor’s degree in Basic/Applied Biological Sciences: Biomedical/Bioscience/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Agricultural Sciences/Food and Nutrition/Environmental Science/Veterinary Science/Fisheries Science/Medical Imaging Technology/Operation Theatre Technology/Medical Lab Technology/BE-Biotechnology/B Tech Biotechnology/Medical/Dental/Pharmacy and any other equivalent life science degrees of any Board/University or an equivalent examination of any other approved Board or University with not less than 50% marks in aggregate.

Students seeking admission must submit the application in the prescribed form at www.nitte.edu.in along with the following documents:

  • Application Form along with a demand draft of 1000 /- for Postgraduate program favouring Nitte deemed to university, payable at Mangaluru towards the registration fee.

  • 12th standard equivalent marks card/pass certificate – Original + 3 attested photocopies.

  • 10th std Marks card/pass certificate for proof of date of birth – Original + 3 attested photocopies.

  • Degree Marks cards of all the Years-Original + 3 attested copies

  • Degree/ Provisional Degree certificate issued by the University – Original + 3 attested photocopies.

  • Transfer Certificate from the institution last attended – Original + 3 attested photocopies.

  • Conduct certificate from the institution last attended – Original

  • Eligibility Certificate issued by the Registrar, Nitte deemed to university

  • Migration certificate from the University of the institution last studied

  • Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner

  • Blood group certificate

  • Photographs – passport size 05, stamp size-05

 

COMMENCEMENT OF COURSE 

The course commence on the date prescribed by , Nitte (deemed to be University) during the month of August.
